Dr. Milorai Modi, Principal Jawaharlal Nehru College, Pasighat.

Dr. Milorai Modi, M.A.Ph.D., is the Principal of the College. Dr. Modi was born on 04 February 1968. An alumnus of the College, he graduated in 1991 and completed his Post Graduation degree in Political Science from Delhi University. Dr. Modi was awarded Ph. D degree for his research in the topic “Kebang as a Traditional Democratic Institution of the Adis of Arunachal Pradesh-A case study of the Padams” in the year 2000 by Rajiv Gandhi University. His interest in the field of academics got a boost when he joined as a lecturer in his alma mater, that is J N College, Pasighat, on 09 September 1996. He served in the College for 10 months and then joined Rajiv Gandhi University and worked for a year. His next posting was at Dera Natung Government College, Itanagar, where he taught for 12 years as lecturer and henceforth as a Reader of Political Science. His acumen as a successful teacher was quite evident and the Government of Arunachal Pradesh selected him as the founder Principal of Government College Seppa in 2009. After one year he was transferred as the Principal of Wangcha Rajkumar Government College, Deomali, where he served for seven years. In May 2017 he joined Jawaharlal Nehru College, Pasighat, as the Principal.

Dr. Modi besides being an able administrator is also a dedicated academician. He has to his credit the publication of two books, namely, “Indigenous System of Governance in the Tribal society of Arunachal Pradesh” and “The Millongs” and sixteen articles which has been published in National and Regional Journals. His deep interest in research led him to complete successfully two Major Projects with research grant from UGC, New Delhi and one Major Project under ICSSR, New Delhi. Besides, he has also done a minor research work funded by NERO, UGC, Guwahati.
